Our Mission
Bethlehem Tae Kwon Do provides a safe, fun training environment for people of all ages to learn life skills that will optimize mental and physical health.
Our History
Our senior instructors have trained in several different styles. The majority of that training has been in Korean Tae Kwon Do and Moo Duk Kwan. Founders Jim Bungay and Rich Hoult met in 1982 as students and came up through the ranks together while training under Michael D. Friello at what was then known as the Hudson Valley Karate Club, and later known as the Hudson Valley Tae Kwon Do Center, earning the rank of Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) together in 1986. Both are past recipients of Hudson Valley Tae Kwon Do’s prestigious “Instructor of the Year” award.
We have seen great change in the way martial arts are practiced since 1982. Much of that change has been good, as martial artists of different styles have shared their knowledge and incorporated new knowledge into their own training. Martial arts instruction has become much more accessible to the general public. At the same time, martial arts instruction has become a for-profit industry.
In founding Bethlehem Tae Kwon Do, we wanted to return to our early "roots" as martial artists. It is our desire to provide affordable martial arts instruction in a club atmosphere. We are committed to set and maintain the highest standards of excellence for our students and ourselves in all aspects of our art.
